What is ClaimScout?+−
ClaimScout is a research app for exploring public-land mining claim context: maps, BLM/USGS-oriented lookups, draft plot helpers, and desk tools like Scout, Locator, Lapse, and Watch.
It helps you study the ground. It does not create a valid claim or replace official records.
Does ClaimScout file claims with the BLM or the county?+−
No. You locate, monument, record, and file yourself (including MLRS when required).
Locator drafts, worksheets, and packets are research aids only — not a filing service and not a survey.
Is “open ground” or “unclaimed” guaranteed?+−
No. Labels like open, staked, unrenewed, or unknown are provisional research flags.
Always verify current MLRS cases, master title plats, withdrawals, patents, and county records before you spend money or travel. Land may be unavailable for reasons the app cannot see.
Is this legal advice?+−
No. Nothing in ClaimScout is legal, surveying, tax, or investment advice.
For rights, title, or compliance questions, use official sources and qualified professionals.
How do I pay for Pro or Outfit?+−
Sign in with a normal (non-owner) account, open Plans in the header, pick yearly or monthly, then Subscribe. Stripe’s payment page takes the card.
When Checkout sends you back, the plan is saved on your account. Use Manage billing in Plans to cancel or download receipts.
Founding redeem codes still work as a backup.
How do Free, Pro, and Outfit work?+−
Free has daily/weekly limits on searches and some desk tools so you can try the product. Those limits apply on your account when you are signed in.
Pro and Outfit lift those limits (card checkout or founding redeem codes).
Owner unlock is for the product operator’s full access on this device — not a public free tier.
The map was blank or said “API KEY REQUIRED.”+−
Use the Imagery button on the map (satellite). ClaimScout prefers free map tiles that do not need your own API key.
Hard-refresh the page (Ctrl+F5). If tiles still fail, try another network or browser — some filters block map providers.
Chrome said “This page isn’t responding.”+−
Close the stuck tab, keep the app server/site open, and open ClaimScout in a new tab.
Hard-refresh (Ctrl+F5). If it keeps freezing, clear site data for this site or try Incognito, then contact support with a screenshot.
I clicked Install but ClaimScout is not on my computer.+−
That is expected in the in-chat preview. Browsers block adding an app from an embedded preview, so nothing will appear on your desktop from here.
After you Publish, open your public ClaimScout URL in Chrome or Edge (a normal browser tab). Use the browser menu → Install ClaimScout / Install page as app.
On a phone, open the published URL and use Add to Home Screen (iPhone) or Install app (Android).
You can keep researching in this preview without installing.
How do I install ClaimScout on my phone?+−
Open the hosted ClaimScout URL in your phone browser.
Tap Install in the app header (or use Add to Home Screen / Install app in the browser). You can also open /?install=1 for a short guide.
You do not need Node or a zip file for normal use of the web app.
Can I use ClaimScout offline?+−
Map tiles and claim searches need an internet connection.
Some notes and drafts may stay on your device in browser storage, but research features will not run offline.
How do I create the owner account?+−
Open Sign in → Create an account. Use your own email and a password of at least 8 characters.
The operator email configured for this app is promoted to Owner + Admin automatically. You will see Admin in the header. That address is not shown on the sign-in form.
An account created in this chat preview stays on the preview. After you publish, sign up once more on the public URL with the same email.
Where are the Terms and Privacy Policy?+−
Terms of Use: /terms
Privacy Policy: /privacy

How do I report a bug or get help?+−
Email support with what you were doing, your device/browser, and a screenshot if possible.
We aim to reply as soon as practical. Support is for the product — not free legal advice on a specific claim.
Will there be a Discord?+−
Maybe later for beta community chat. For now, email is the official support channel.
Also see Terms and Privacy. Discord may be added later; email is the official channel for now.
